Sport: Swimming
Status: Retired
Biography: I had a pretty interesting path in my sport. I learnt to swim at a very young age and progressed through the different levels of my local sim club. I became national champion for my age at 12 years old and represented GB in Open Water swimming two years later. Over the next four years, I went through many highs and lows in my career. Highlights included bringing home a tally of 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals from the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2015 and winning further national titles. My transition from Junior to Senior was quite different to my teammates; I chose to pack up my bags and move halfway around the world to live in Florida. There, I studied at the University of Florida, earning my Bachelor’s degree, whilst continuing to train and compete for the Division 1 Florida Swim Team and returning home every so often to compete in the UK. I retired from swimming in 2021 with the aim to focus on my education and professional career.
Most proud of: Continuing to stay dedicated to my sport regardless of the many ups and downs that came with my career. As well as that I am so proud that I am now using my experience to help current athletes!
Why are you involved with Athlete Interactions? I am involved because I want to provide support and advice to current athletes; advice that I know I would have benefitted from during my athletic career.
Current / Future Education / Career: I have a Masters in Psychology, a subject that I have been passionate about since A-levels. Currently, I am working as a Learning Support Assistant in a Secondary School to gain some experience with children. Future? Who knows honestly! I am still trying to figure out what I want to do/what I am good at. All I can say is that it will be somewhere within the field of Psychology.
